More Than Just Spiderman...xD

To stay sane & make this blog kinda normal, (instead of completely chaotic like the rest of my life), I'm trying to stay on certain topics with my posts.  So today, I'm gonna talk about Tobey Maguire.  Not Spiderman, although he is fully known & loved for that role, (and also prob made him a lot of money!), but Tobey.  Tobey has been a well respected actor for a long time.  I remember first seeing him in "Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas", & Wonder boys.  Fear & Loathing was a short part, but in Wonder Boys he was head to head with Michael Douglas and showed that he could hold his own next to a star like that.   Now he is one.

He actually has a great filmography, but ever since he played Spiderman, people most often identify him from that part.  I think, I mean I don't really know...it just seems like when you hear the name Tobey Maguire nowadays, you think Spiderman.  But I don't and it's not because I don't love ALL the Spiderman movies, it's just that Tobey has done so much more & can do so much more.  Actually I don't even think he's going to be in the 4th Spiderman movie.  I don't know why.  Couldve been a personal choice or not, but I'm sure a lot of pple will be disappointed.  But that's ok, right? 3 Spiderman movies that topped that box offices every time & deserved too, is pretty damn good.  He prob doesn't have to work for the rest of his life b/c of those 3 movies!

Tobey as Spidey...couldn't have been better casting.  He played the geeky Peter Parker too a tee and was acting with veteran, William Defoe.  Kirsten Dunst & James Franco also starred in all 3 movies, whereas Defoe was only in the first & second.  Franco played Harry, Peter's best friend & Dunst plays the infamous, MaryJane.   

I'm not going into a post about what Spiderman is about, if you guys don't know that by now...get to the quickest movie joint yet, & rent or buy that shit!
Tobey busted on the screen in about 1992, (I was in 4th grade), in a TV series debut called, "Great Scott", on Fox, but was eventually canceled due to low ratings.  But that didn't stop the young actor.  His first role I think was, "This Boys Life", with crazy Veteran actor, Robert Deniro & Leonardo Dicaprio.  That was a small, short role, but the movie was an instant hit and to this day, people all around the world probably own it, or at the very least have seen it.  I know we own it.

Boy, do these two hide from the paparazzo good.  The only times I actually think I see Tobey's or Leo's face in a gossip mag, is when he's at a game or out with his family.  Otherwise, his baseball hat is usually wayy far down!

So he's an actor & a family man who has millions of fans around the world, anxiously waiting to see him in movies all around the world.  Not just as Spiderman, but as himself.  And I am NOT downplaying Spiderman at all, just to clarify.  All those movies were dope.  No doubt!

But, I remember him in the movie, "Pleasantville", with Reese Witherspoon, as well.  That was a dramatic, funny, & emotional movie where he played a great character that changed Pleasantville forever.  He's a dreamer in that movie.  He seems like a dreamer in real life.   Always picking good roles, giving the fans what they want or at least will die trying. Haha.

Or the movie, "Seabiscuit.  I mean, I'm not into horse type movies like that, so I have to thank someone like Tobey Maguire, who draws me to watch certain movies that I wouldn't usually see, just b/c I like him so much.  Plus he's so cute!

Another movie that I just have to recommend with him in it is, "Brothers", with Jake Gyllenhal & Natalie Portman.

Tobey plays Captain Sam Cahill? I can't remember if it was Cahill for sure, but his name was definitely Sam. :) Sam has two daughters and a beautiful wife, but he is also in the service and is mostly overseas fighting for his country.  At home, he has a brother, Tommy, who's recently out of jail & is trying to get his life back on track, so to say.  But when the tragic news comes that Sam was killed overseas, in a crash, it changes all their lives forever.  It's a heartfelt movie and you can actually feel these peoples emotions.  He played such a good soldier, a soldier who was great, but wounded from the experiences he had gone through & no one, not even his family, could understand.  

Soooo, in conclusion., let's give it up to this great actor.  I'll be doing many posts on many interesting people, famous, historic, or even real, but again to stay on track, I take this day by day & pick people by people or topic:)
Did I tell you Tobey won ONE Mtv movie awards, one for best kiss with Kirsten Dunst in Spiderman, & TWO Teen choice awards, another for a lip lock, & one for choice actor in action/adventure? Cuz he did.

I'm excited to see what 2011 brings for this creative actor & I'm sure that any movie he picks, will be a hit.

Kk...it's 9:17pm, i've been up since 4:30am b/c I went to work till 3:30pm, (& it's a Sunday!), so i'm damn tired, but also a little wired.  I need to take my xanex & break out the bubbler.  I mean I have enough shit, so I need to get off this computer, smoke & watch Black Swan on bootleg again.  Don't ask:) LOL!
